“Caregivers, Make Yourself a Priority”
Being a caregiver is a full-time job, but that doesn’t mean caregivers have to neglect themselves – a struggle Krissy is familiar with. After Brody’s diagnosis, she put everything and everyone before herself and realized she needed to take a step back and regroup. She’s had to learn that it’s okay to make yourself a priority. When she begins to feel overwhelmed, she gently tells her kids that she needs a moment alone, which as also taught them that it’s okay to take a step back when they’re overwhelmed.
– As caregivers you have to make time for yourself so you can care for your loved ones. Don’t put off potential health problems.
– It’s ok to say no sometimes.
– Time for yourself can be anything you enjoy doing – as long as you’re doing it for yourself.
